What is a Wrist Arthritis?

While there are over 100 types of arthritis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis most commonly affect the wrist joint. With osteoarthritis, cartilage in your wrist joint breaks down over time due to normal “wear and tear.” However, with rheumatoid arthritis, your body’s immune system attacks its own tissues damaging the cartilage in this area. With wrist arthritis, you have less cartilage to cushion the bones in your wrist, causing pain, stiffness, and swelling.
