What is Ankle Arthroscopy?

Ankle arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows an orthopedic surgeon to view the ankle joint without making a large incision through the skin and soft tissues. During the procedure, the surgeon uses a small camera, called an arthroscope, to guide tiny surgical instruments throughout the joint to help diagnose and treat your condition. This technique can also be combined with traditional surgery to help repair fracture ankles or torn ligaments within the ankle.
